Oh, what a day. I feel like it was a long one, but wasn’t even all that busy!
I woke up earlier than usual because I had a dentist appointments 40 minutes away. I brought a slice of bread and an apple with peanut butter to eat on the road. I put a little skim in a travel mug, too. Easy to eat, not messy, and very filling. All set! Do you eat on-the-go? What do you bring?

But first, I had to make a pit-stop to have passport photos taken. Of course, I already have my passport ready to rock for my Russian adventure, but I wanted to get one of those handy-dandy travel IDs that get you discounts and whatnot. Needed a new picture! Usually, all my ID photos make me look like a meth addict or like I am in mourning (my friend Krista still cracks up and the “my puppy just died” look on my college ID). However, this one looks half decent. Maybe not a meth addict… Just drunk? Haha, no worries. What is your worst ID photo on?
The dentist was dentisty. I won’t go into details, but it took a long time! Even though it was time for lunch, I had to stop at UNH to get that ID made first. Then back to town to pick up Jill for “lunner.” It was too late to reasonably be called lunch, but too early for dinner. If “brunch” works, why not “lunner”?
We had such a good time out last night, and see each other so rarely, that another lunch date was a must-do. We couldn’t decide between two of our favorite restaurants downtown, but finally settled on Flatbread Pizza Co.
I. Love. Flatbread. It is an amazing restaurant with great quality food and a good mission. They use organic ingredients in everything and buy locally as much as they can. There are maps and posters showing where the food you are eating came from! Way cool. I had a hard time deciding on what to get: my old standby, or one of the two weekly specials. They always do a “carne” special and a veggie special. The carne was homemade BBQ sauce, BBQ pulled pork, grilled corn, and fresh herbs with buffalo mozzarella. If you read this with any regularity, you know I have a hard time turning down those 3 little letters. The veggie special, which I ordered, came with garlic-brushed tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, grilled zucchini, squash, and asparagus, crumbled feta, herbs, and a balsamic reduction.

In the back is Jill's white cheese and herb flatbread
I don’t think I have to tell you that it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Each “small” pizza is plate-sized and feeds 1. I did a pretty good job on it, but didn’t win membership to the Clean Plate Club. Actually, that is A-okay by me, because I can extend the deliciousness into tomorrow with my little doggie-bag! Hooray!
At home, the fam was planning on cooking up burgers left over from out 4th of July party. Even though I hadn’t eaten that long ago, I knew I’d be starving by 9 if I skipped our family meal. I loaded up a little one with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. I tried eating it the normal way, but I just don’t like these buns. I ate it open-faced instead. No matter.
I should have taken a side-shot, but the fam gives me the “what-the-heck-are-you-doing” look every time I take a picture, so I just hurried it up… Sorry it just looks like a mass of veggies!
Pops, cousin, puppy, and I enjoyed the setting sun on our deck. There were so many unusual bird calls this evening! Eventually, puppy started misbehaving and I was getting chilly, so we wandered in and called it a night. I’m checking up on digital camera reviews because it is time for an upgrade. Any suggestions?
Night!
Yikes, that sounds like a painful cleaning.
I love flatbread too. I don’t know if I would have been able to resist those last few pieces!
I think the pup needs to make an appearance.
And I’m “co-leader” of the cooking crew, but MY name is on the top of the list. HA.
I’m looking for new digital cameras, too! I’m deciding bwn a Canon Powershot SD880 or SD1200 or G10…I really want the better G10, but it is expensive and kinda bulky…:-(
my worst photo ID: my driver’s license. I look neon orange, and I look like I’m high on drugs. Urgh.
Flat bread sounds great- I am all over anything that says “BBQ”…ah, good stuff
I look terrible in ID card shots- they all look like mug shots and I look either drunk or like a serial killer, lol. (I’m neither, for the record!)
My first license picture I looked like I was 12 – my hair was really short, it was a hot day so there was LOTS of glare on my face, it was horrible. I made sure that when I renewed it I looked much better
YUM to that flat bread restaurant! That sounds like a great place to go!!
How cool that there is more than one Flatbread Pizza Co.! It was absolutely amazing
Your choices sound simply mouthwatering, too. Mmm…I could sure go for pizza right about now!
